Hello I decided to make a little topic.

That making that some items give special bonuses and penalties.

Such as:

Eyepatch: +2 to intimidate but -2 to spot

Towershield: +2 AC vs missile weapons but -2 to all reflex saves

Heavy shield: +1 AC vs missile weapons and -1 to all reflex saves

Full plate armor: -4 to all reflex saves, 4/- damage reduction.

Breastplate: -2 to all reflex saves, 2/- damage reduction

Leather armor: +2 Hide, -2 concentration (somewhat itchy leather, annoys casters abit)

Full plate helmet (only eyes or so visible): -3 to spot, -3 to listen and 1/- damage reduction vs blunt weapons.

Leather boots: +2 move silently and -2 concentration (damned itchy leather)

Leather gloves: +2 to parry, +2 to set trap, +2 to craft trap, -2 to disable device,-2 to Heal and -2 to sleight of hand.

Eyeglasses: +1 spot, +1 Spellcraft, +1 Lore, +1 Search, -4 Intimidate.

Staff: +2 Spellcraft,+2 concentration -2 Disable device, -2 set trap.

Ring: 11 Spellresistance but -3 to will and fortitude saves (due to relying on the magical trinket).

Mask: +2 to perform , +2 taunt, -2 to intimidate and -2 appraise.

Amulet: +2 to will saves, -4 to move silently, -4 to concentration and -2 to survival (A amulet making much sound, thus making it hard to sneak and concentrate properly, a annoying trinket)

...well the list can go on, I just did a little examples.

Would be nice to see some items like that ingame, some could be aqquired for alot of gold in a shop while others would be a little cheaper. So that wearing different kind of things would give different bonuses/penalties.

Such as a man with eyepatch, unable to see as well as a man with two. But his appearance becomes more intimidating.

Well, hoping on some feedback from DM and players on this. Just a lil idea, DM decide in end heh.

I actually sem-second this. Some items make more sense then others, the eye patch for example seems about right to me. However things such as eye glasses. +1 Spellcraft and +1 Lore? Wearing glasses, as much as people like to think, does not make you smarter.

Some of the items on the list I really like. Others however would come under the "enchanted" category so I'm not too fond of those (the staff and the ring as just two examples). I also like the armour ideas as well, it allows for the PC's to actually get stuck in without needing to ask the DM's for enchanted items / goods.

On the whole I agree with Dezuel here.

There's already stuff like that in the module, but as far as I know only given out during DM quests.

Some of the scripted quests have some very convoluted paths hidden in them that might result in similar rewards, but they are usually class-dependent and hidden randomly. So a bard might have a 5% chance to see an option "Sing a love song to the orc" resulting in either the orc giving him a trinket or attacking him. (Note: example made up, I don't know if that actually exists). Usually taking these branches has a chance to fail the quest as well.

There is actually items in the module, in stores, that give bonuses. They ain't located next to Coburn though, you will have to search beyond the safe zone to find them.

After Hex rejected my proposal of marriage I've though about a couple of things you could but on the back burner that would be quite cool!

Firstly, more food stuffs!

Just new food items we can consume mainly, perhaps more vegetables and expecially more cooked dishes! (Wheres mah spuds!!)

Secondly, and I could understand why this could be a bad idea, empty bottles!

Now I know they're already IG and hell, I'v used them to RP many a time but what about after you've finished drinking from say a bottle of spirits, an empty bottle would appear in your inventory! Now I know that would probably involve a silly amount of scripts / items being dropped perhaps but I'm just throwing it out there!

As far as I know we've used all the icons in the "foodstuff" HAK and there simply aren't any pictures suitable for carrots and so on. I could probably add some but after I dropped the idea of requiring food and water I don't think the benefit outweighs the effort.

Spawning empty bottles upon emptying one would be easy, but it only clutters the inventory AND the stores that buy bottles at 1gp. I've played on a server that had this and was mostly annoyed by it.

That would be sort of awesome. Not making it so it damages the PC in some way, just so it said something like "you feel thirsty". Possibly make it so others are aware that your PC is thirsty? Good for RP and not annoying  Grin

The function above as everything else would drain the server in some way. Having it tick without any effect than a spawned message now and then would not be beneficial for the amount of time it would require to get it working correctly.

Now I don't decide if it would be activated or not (again), but it would certainly if it was activated create some larger impact on all characters if so than just the message. Higher % of failed rest, maybe other effects that would make the function equal the amount of the system it would use. And it would still be behind several other projects that got higher priority, like crafting and the OLM, so if it would appear again it would not be in the near future I believe.
